The Kauai Luau Kalamaku is a great experience for the entire family.
Join the Luau Kalamaku for an unforgettable evening of song, dance and feast! Conveniently located just south of Kauai’s main town of Lihue, you’ll find the historical Kilohana Plantation and luau grounds. The estate was originally founded as a cattle ranch by one of the island’s first missionary families. As the ranch and family fortune grew, the grounds were transformed into the first mansion on Kauai. Today, the sixteen thousand square foot home has been fully restored to the splendor it held in 1930. Visit the craft and artisan shops that now line the halls on your way into the best Kauai luau.
Arrive early to take the Kauai Plantation Railway! This train ride (train ride is an additional cost) showcases and narrates throughout the 105 acre historical farm. See how traditional taro is grown, and taste it later at the luau buffet! Also see the homegrown tropical crops. Check out the papaya, banana, sugar cane and famous pineapple. See old style plantation homes and the local farm animals. The kids love to feed the pigs, goats and sheep!
Upon your return to the luau grounds, you’ll arrive just in time for a traditional Kauai luau imu ceremony. Here you will see the unveiling of the pig. It has been slow roasted in an underground oven covered with hot stones. After the ceremony, the buffet is open! Enjoy fresh local salads and fruit, and sample customary island delicacies. Favorites include lomi lomi salmon, purple sweet potatoes, teriyaki chicken, seared fresh fish and the infamous Kalua pork. Sides of macaroni salad, rice, taro rolls and chow mein join the main courses.
Save room for dessert of coconut custard, rice pudding, banana cream pie and pineapple upside down cake. Drinks are flowing from the open bar. Enjoy local beers, wine and tropical mixed drinks.
As the sun sets on another perfect Hawaiian day, the Kauai luau begins the show. Prepare to be whisked away to the magical world of Polynesian dance, complete with drums, chants, hip-swaying hula and fire twirlers. Enjoy the state of the art theatrical show with the best of what Kauai has to offer!
