Enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of Polynesia with the Kauai Hyatt Luau!
Prepare to be whisked away to the magical islands of Polynesia with the Kauai Hyatt Luau. Hosted on their waterfront ocean lawn, your setting will include the light sea breeze and the gentle swaying of palm trees. Enjoy authentic Hawaiian hospitality with food, drink and first-rate entertainment. Be entranced with the song and dance of both traditional and modern days.
Check-in begins in their Poipu location on Kauai’s southern, sunny side. Your evening opens with the warm aloha of a lei greeting along the ocean lawn. Enjoy a welcome beverage of a mai tai or tropical juice. Explore the arts and crafts tables set by local artisans, and admire their attention to detail and hard work. Head over to see the imu, a large hole dug five feet deep that serves as an underground oven. The fire was lit the night before, and kept at a high heat by adding large rocks. The Kalua pig is placed in the imu and layered with banana leaves and a damp mat. The oven slow cooks the meat, while the layers hold in steam. This creates tender pork, slow cooked to perfection. After the unveiling of the pig, it is presented to you for the evening’s feast!
The Kauai Hyatt Luau menu features something for everyone. Along with the pork, you’ll also enjoy tropical fruits and green salad – local favorites. Try the kimchee, lomi lomi salmon, cucumber namasu and somen noodle salad. You’ll also find grilled guava chicken, steamed fresh fish and teriyaki steak! Save room for poi, purple sweet potatoes, rice, veggies, and taro rolls. In addition to the celebration with full bar featuring tropical drinks, juices and soda, share in the dessert bar as well! Sample the banana cream pie, coconut cream cake, guava mousse cake, and the traditional coconut custard, haupia.
Your stomach is now full and your spirit content, and the sun sets on another perfect Hawaiian day. But it’s not time to close the book on this one just yet! Be enchanted by the traditional chant and modern song of these islands, as you are told the stories of the land and culture. Learn of the cultural traditions of Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa, and our own Hawaii Nei. Enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of Polynesia in this incredible evening of entertainment with the Kauai Hyatt Luau.
